Beistegui Hermanos S.A. (BH) is a Spanish bicycle manufacturer founded in 1909. BH has two manufacturing and assembly facilities in Vitoria,, Spain and another in Portugal. The company manufactures over 200,000 bikes per year, 50% of which are sold outside of Spain.

Conclusion

Reach:
With 45 countries and 9 languages, the spanish bike manufacturer BH provides an above average number of localized content for it's global audience. The localization is split into top level country domains which use a different layout and an international template that is used for the countries which run from the sites subfolder. 

Global Gateway:
The global gateway is a stand alone site with the countries broken into continents. Countries are not arranged alphabetically but perhaps are listed in order of importance. I experienced some issues with the drop down menu, it appears difficult to keep the list open at times. The 'gateway' can be opened by clicking the 'select region' button in the upper right corner. It's a common location for the country switcher link, however, I would recommend adding an icon to make it easier to find.

International Template:
The international template is well designed and suitable for localization. the homepage slider is standardized and uses the same english content for most countries. The content is well translated and most of the important static navigation elements are translated. There are elements which are not translated. For example I spotted a spanish headline on the German site. 

Another small design issue in the international template is the background graphic. It does not seamlessly repeat:

Social Media:
BH does a nice job with social media integration. They use facebook, twitter, youtube, google+, pinterest and flickr. Some of the bigger markets that use their own web presence under a top level domain such as Australia, use their own country specific social media accounts, but most other countries share the global accounts which seem to do post in both spanish and english.

BH does a nice job with their global web presence. There are a few small localization details that could be improved, some design elements that they could fix and some technical improvements to the global gateway that I would suggest. Overall it's a good implementation.
